Police Officers Not Considering the Possibility of Protests and Strikes

The Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration have announced that they are not considering the possibility of protest gatherings and potential strikes by police officers of the Federal Police Administration.

“In response to false claims by the Union of Police and Ministry of Internal Affairs Employees in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the possibility of organizing a strike by police officers of the Federal Police Administration, the Union of Employees of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, the only representative union at the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, has denied these claims today,” stated the press release.

They argue that false statements about protests and strikes by police officers of the Federal Police Administration directly harm the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Police Administration, and the entire security system of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is ready to tackle all security challenges.

“The President of the Government of the Federation of BiH, Nermin Nikšić, the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs, Ramo Isak, the Director of the Federal Police Administration, Vahidin Munjić, and the entire Government of the Federation of BiH do not deserve to be portrayed in a negative context by any parameters, except perhaps by tendentious and malicious ones, especially considering the efforts they make to improve the status of police officers,” they said.

They also emphasized that the Union of Police and Ministry of Internal Affairs Employees in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina took advantage of the hospitality of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration. These institutions granted permission to the Administrative Board of the mentioned union to use the conference hall in the headquarters of the ministry for the purpose of holding a meeting to send messages against the strategic interests of the Government of the Federation of BiH, the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Federal Police Administration.

“This strategic interest is the adoption of a house collective agreement that will improve the status of all police officers, civil servants, and employees in the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration. Only those who work against the interests of police officers, civil servants, and employees in the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration may have the goal of obstructing the house collective agreement that leads to the improvement of the status of all employees,” emphasized the press release.

They pointed out that the Union of Police and Ministry of Internal Affairs Employees in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will not be consulted on the improvement of the status through the house collective agreement. Instead, the representative union, the Union of Employees of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, will be involved in the negotiation process.

“At this point, we call on the Union of Police and Ministry of Internal Affairs Employees in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to initiate efforts with cantonal governments to conclude a sectoral collective agreement for police officers in cantonal ministries of internal affairs to improve the ‘material-financial, labor, and socio-economic rights’ of police officers in cantonal ministries of internal affairs,” they highlighted.

The Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration urge all police officers, civil servants, and employees not to fall for the deception of groups working solely to serve the interests of a small circle of people. They advise distancing from entities that, through their actions in these challenging times, seek to harm the security interests of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They announced that the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration will conduct an internal investigation into all individuals who are employees of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration to determine if there are elements of disciplinary responsibility for certain police officers who are not authorized to speak on behalf of the police officers of the Federal Police Administration.

“Regarding all of the above, the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration will no longer comment, and we kindly ask the media, when transmitting press releases from unions and interest groups, to especially consider that the Union of Employees of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs is the only representative union at the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Police Administration. There will be no protests or strikes by police officers of the Federal Police Administration,” concluded the statement from the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs.
