To visit Bosnia, most visitors will need a visa. The type of visa required will depend on the purpose of the visit and the length of stay.
Citizens from the listed countries can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina with either a valid passport or identity card that proves their citizenship. These include members of the European Union, signatories of the Schengen Agreement, as well as Andorra, Montenegro, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Serbia, the Holy See, and the Swiss Confederation and Republic of Turkey.
* * * Citizens of the United States of America are exempted from the visa requirements when entering, exiting or traveling through Bosnia and Herzegovina for up to 90 days.
* * * Since the UK is neither an EU/Schengen member state, holders of a UK travel document need a visa to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina.
* * According to the Decision of Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the period from June 1 to September 30, 2024 are exempted from the obligation to obtain a visa for entry, exit, transit and stay on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On this basis, citizens of Saudi Arabia can stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a maximum of 30 days.
- You must register with the local police within 24 hours of your arrival, unless you are staying in a hotel or official tourist accommodation, in which case you will be registered automatically.
- Foreigners staying in Bosnia and Herzegovina are required to have a minimum of KM 150.00 (or the equivalent in freely convertible foreign currency) for each day of their intended stay.
